The Creation of Witches on Wheels

What you know as "Witches on Wheels" today actually began years ago as a small side-business where Jacquetta started making her own knitting patterns and requested Lilibet's social skills to help sell them to friends and family. It was named "Burrow Creations" and had a small Instagram following. Personalised water colour paintings, the occasional hand-knitted rabbit or doll for graduation and handmade fabric ragdolls made up the entirety of the range.

Then, during autumn of 2020, I had this dream that my sisters and mum were selling items we'd made, travelling in a campervan to different craft stalls. It was a perfect combination of all the skills we had: Lilibet was missing her time at Lush where she sold cosmetics products and got to talk to people everyday and sell things; mum wanted to make a real living from her craftwork and I wanted to pursue communication, graphic design and extend my writing into the realms of non-fiction. We would also be running a family business, which has always been the dream: to spend more time with each other.

With Lilibet and I furloughed, we began to work out the dimensions of how we would split up the responsibilities of the business.

We created three separate areas of our business that would work together as a collective.

Witch MIND. Witch CRAFT. Witch COSMETICS.

Witch MIND was begun to educate England on how to get back to basics: learn from nature, meditate, and become one with the spiritual side of life.

We're a family of Yorkshire witches, but we're not the cackling villains of Disney films or the evil baddies from Grimm fairy tales. We're also different from the Wiccans who follow the religion set up in the 1900s. Our brand of witchcraft has always been eclectic, spiritual - relying heavily on a belief in energy, the Universe and the power and wisdom we received from our ancestors. 

We wanted to educate people who might want to study witchcraft that it doesn't mean you have to join the Wicca religion, you don't need to believe in any gods or deities and guide you towards a way of life that works hand in hand with the modern world - not trying to usurp modern medicine and the advances we have made scientifically, but see where todays world might be improved by returning to the way of life that was right and we maybe shouldn't have forgotten that way of life when we moved into the modern era.

In the book "Book of Shadows: Basic Witch" you can learn all about our type of witchcraft, the local history of Yorkshire witches throughout the ages, and all the information anyone just starting up the practice might need to know.

Witch CRAFT would be everything that Burrow Creations was: but more. A whole range of products. Products for each season, as well as the labour of love: the Wizarding World Collection.

Designed like nothing you'll have ever seen before, mum started to create the world of Harry Potter from scratch: each character, magical creature and - never seen before - the magical plants. Patterns that beginners and intermediate knitters would be able to follow (as her pet peeve was always buying patterns for Harry Potter inspired knits but you needed to be an expert to make it).

Witch COSMETICS was the brain-child of Lilibet who has always been a practical potion making witch. "Mother Earth" is a brand of handmade, natural cosmetics from bath salts to hair treatments that are made with the half-a-decade knowledge Lilibet acquired at Lush. Months and months go into each product to perfect the concoction, tested only on human volunteers before they are available to sell, using natural, sustainable products. "Mother Earth" will also eventually include witchy tools that will help you in your craft, such as candles and crystals.

The journey begins this month as we launch our Instagram account - aiming to inspire you with our witchy products and educate with our info-graphics.
